A point of trivia: did you know that, according to Statistics Canada, in 2006, 2.4% of all eligible Canadian vehicles elected to have vanity license plates? And, of this number, British Columbia had the lowest “penetration rate” (.59%) in Canada? The penetration rate is defined as the percentage of registered motor vehicles that chose vanity license plates. Ontario had the highest penetration rate of vanity license plates at 4.59% in Canada, and Quebec, PEI, and New Foundland and Labrador do not offer vanity license plates.
