Indiana officially provided State issued license plates in 1913. From 1913 to 1942, pairs of license plates were issued; singles from 1943 to 1946 (with 1943 being a metal strip); pairs from 1947 to 1955; and from 1956 to present, Indiana has issued a single license plate.
